Help reduce carbon emissions, improve employee satisfaction, and attract and retain talent with an OZEV grant from the Electric Vehicle Workplace Charging Scheme.
How much could you save?
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a Government-backed project that provides eligible businesses with vouchers to help offset the upfront costs of installing electric vehicle (EV) charge points. The WCS is open to all businesses, charities, and public sector organisations that meet the applicant and site eligibility criteria and can be used to provide charge points for staff, fleets, guests, or visitors.
Because the Government is pushing its agenda of no new combustion engine cars being sold in the UK after 2030, the grant to install electric vehicle charging points is quite lucrative.
It’ll cover up to 75% of the purchase and installation costs of new EV charge points, inclusive of VAT. However, this is capped at a maximum of £350 per socket and 40 sockets overall. It’s worth noting here that the 40 sockets can also be spread across multiple sites, which is great if you have a nationwide franchise or commercial sites in different parts of the UK.
However, this ends in March 2024, so you’d better be fast if you want to take advantage of the generous scheme!
To qualify for the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) Grant, you must meet the following criteria:
If you meet all of the above criteria, then you should be eligible to claim the commercial EV installation grant.

There are a few different schemes available. The most commonly-known one was the Plug-in Car Grant (PICG). This scheme offered a discount of up to £3,000 towards the purchase of a new electric car but was discontinued in 2022.
There are also a number of other schemes available, such as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) and the On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS). These are aimed at individuals and households, but businesses may be able to apply for them if they meet the eligibility criteria.
To find out more about the different grants available, you can visit the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) website.
