EV Charge Point Installations
The install can be completed in one day, usually as a morning or an afternoon appointment. You must provide the relevant evidence for the OZEV Grant upon request. Without the correct evidence, we cannot proceed with your installation in an effective manner.
The length of the process depends on how long it takes for a customer to fully complete the survey and approve the quotes we have provided. Turnaround is usually around 10 working days.
Yes, labour for the EV installation is included in the price we advertise. The price we advertise is for our base kits, including your first 5M of cable and labour, after the grant has been applied (£350 deducted). The price is subject to survey findings, additional costs will incur for extra cable and materials required for your specific install. Most installs only require a base kit.
Yes, clear away the area where you will have your charger installed, and the pathway that leads to your consumer unit (fusebox). Locate your gas and electric meter and find out where the main water stop tap is inside your home.
Tethered – This means a cable is provided with the Charge Point. We currently offer one tethered EV Charger which is a Podpoint Solo Smart Charger. The standard length of cable for this unit is 7.5M.
Un-tethered (AKA Universal) – This means the Charge Point does not come with a charging cable. The charging cable provided with your vehicle must be used in its place.
OZEV stands for The Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles (OZEV). OZEV replaced OLEV which stands for Office for Low Emission Vehicles.
Boris Johnson recently announced the ban on the sales of fossil fuel vehicles in the UK from the date 2030. This prompted the government to tweak the name of the department responsible for supporting the roll out of EV charging infrastructure from OLEV to OZEV. The grant remains the same, just a name change.
The OZEV Grant allows you to claim a %, to a maximum of £350, towards a brand new Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charger for your home.
This Government incentive is designed to lower carbon emissions across the country by helping electric vehicle owners get a new home charger installed for as little a cost as possible.
To qualify for the OZEV Grant, you must meet the following criteria:
- Own an EV or are planning on purchasing an electric vehicle within 4 months of the application
- You must have off-street parking, such as a driveway.
- The charger model must be OZEV approved. All of the ones we offer are.
- The charger must be smart enabled (requires an internet connection)
- Your chosen installer must be an OZEV approved installer. That’s where Grant Store come in!
- Grants can be applied for, 4 months prior to the charger installation or EV registration.
- You can apply for two EV charge points per household, if at least two EV’s are registered to that address.
The Government does not give final grant approval until after the installation has taken place, so with any installation provider there is a risk that you won’t get the grant.
The prices we advertise assume that you are eligible for the £350 OZEV grant, so we only show what you will pay with the grant deducted upfront. This means you do not need to wait for any kind rebate.
You will need to supply the following:
If you are the registered keeper / have ordered the vehicle
- A copy of the V5C
- Order confirmation
- Other proof of purchase
If you are leasing or have a finance agreement for the vehicle:
- Leasing confirmation

- Order confirmation
You must provide the relevant evidence for the Grant upon request. Without the correct evidence, we cannot proceed with your installation.
You do not need planning permission in most cases.
Yes, you may need permission from the freeholder of the building or land. We do not check this at the point of purchase, so it is your responsibility to ensure you have permission before your installation.
Yes, we provide 1 year’s workmanship guarantee, and each charger comes with a standard 3-year warranty too.
Your property must have designated, private off-street parking. This may be co-located with the property (driveway) or separate from it. Where the parking is separate, you must be able to demonstrate that you have a legal entitlement to the parking space through the provision of land registry title deeds.
The parking must be suitable for a Charge Point installation. The parking must be able to permit an eligible vehicle to be charged safely. You must be able to always access the parking space.
The grant is not available where you do not own the parking or have sole legal right to it. This includes:
- rented spaces
- spaces shared with other properties
- spaces that provide access routes to other properties
Yes, we can move the Charge Point (if we have installed it) to your new address, however, you will not be able to apply for a grant to cover the cost of this. This will be quoted on a job-by-job basis

ECO Funding
From the initial enquiry to install can take up to 1-3 weeks depending on the energy saving measures installed.
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty by installing energy saving measures.
The scheme began in April 2013, and over time it has been amended. The latest version is called ECO3, which commenced on the 1st October 2018 and will finish in March 2022.
We have access to the Department for Work and Pensions service called “EST Datamatch”, which allows us to check if you are eligible under ECO. Your benefit papers can also be used but they must be the most up to date copies.
First, we need you to sign a consent form which can be emailed or sent by message if you have a smart phone. We also require the following information
- Address
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
Once submitted for approval on average it takes 3 working days to receive confirmation of your eligibility
There are 3 outcomes
- Matched (Eligible for the funding)
- Un-verified (Data incorrect or Universal Credits)
- Un-matched (Not eligible)
We would need to take photographic evidence of your benefit papers.
