Are electric boilers worth it?
This will all depend on your own circumstances. For instance, how big is the property it will heat? How much do you have in your budget to spend on a boiler and running costs? Do you have the space for the tanks that an option like a heat-only boiler requires you to have? Is the area that you live in prone to electricity cuts? (This could also be solved by installing a solar power energy system.)
They’re an excellent upgrade to some of the more traditional or off-grid boiler options out there, but ground source or air source heat pumps are even more energy-efficient and eco-friendly. Talk to our expert team about the best choice for your property – we’re only too happy to help!
Is it expensive to run an electric boiler?
This depends on the price of electricity, how big your home is, and how much hot water you use. Prices of electricity from the National Grid have been rising steadily in the past few years, as have all utilities, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that an electric boiler will be any more or less expensive to run than an alternative option.
One surefire way of ensuring that your electric boiler is supplied with low-cost, green, sustainable energy is the addition of PV solar panels, an inverter, and a solar battery storage system, so speak to us if this is of interest.
Do I need a hot water tank with an electric boiler?
If you have a combi boiler or system boiler, then no. If, however, you have a heat-only boiler, then you’ll need to have enough space on your property for two tanks – a larger one in the loft and a smaller one in a cupboard space elsewhere in the building. What is the most energy-efficient electric boiler?
The Vaillant ecoTEC Plus is a fantastic energy-efficient electric boiler. It has an efficiency rating of up to 98%, meaning that it only wastes 2% of the energy it uses. It also has a number of other features that make it a good choice for energy-efficient heating, including being able to modulate its output to match the heating demand, using condensing technology to recover heat from the flue gases, and it can be controlled remotely, allowing you to monitor and adjust the boiler’s settings from anywhere in the world.
