Here are some of our most common questions clients tend to ask us…
ASHPs absorb heat from the outside air, even when it's cold, and increase the heat's temperature through a compressor. This heat is then transferred into your home's air or water system. In cooling mode, the process is reversed to extract heat from indoors.
Installation costs for ASHPs vary depending on the property and the specific requirements of the installation, typically ranging from £500 to £9,000 with the boiler upgrade voucher included. These costs can be influenced by factors such as, whether additional insulation is needed or if the home is older and less energy efficient.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is an initiative by the UK government designed to help meet the country's net zero targets by encouraging the adoption of low-carbon heating systems. The scheme provides significant financial incentives to cover part of the cost for the installation of heat pumps and biomass boilers. These grants are available to property owners in England and Wales who are replacing older, fossil fuel-based heating systems.
Key details of the scheme include:
For more detailed information or to apply, you can visit the official Boiler Upgrade Scheme page on the Ofgem website or the government's guidance page.
On the scheduled day of your installation, the team of skilled engineers will conduct a comprehensive walkthrough of the entire system setup with you. They will ensure that you are thoroughly informed and comfortable with the operation and features of the new equipment before they proceed. The installation process typically unfolds over a period of 3 to 5 days. During this time, the team will meticulously install the air source heat pump (ASHP), the associated cylinder, and all necessary radiators and pipework. Additionally, certified electricians will be on-site to handle all the required electrical connections and ensure that everything is set up for optimal performance and safety. This detailed approach not only aims to secure the proper functioning of your new heating system but also to ensure your peace of mind and satisfaction with the investment in your home’s comfort.
Yes, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is required for the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump. However, you don't need to worry about this detail, as we at Grant Store Ltd include handling the EPC as part of our comprehensive installation package.
Yes, an air source heat pump can effectively heat your home. The efficiency and performance of the system largely depend on its design. At our company, we employ expert heat geeks who specialize in designing air source heat pump systems tailored to heat your property in the most efficient way possible. This ensures that the room temperatures in your home can reach desired levels efficiently.
This plan is based on what we currently know about your property. If and when we learn more about your property, the plan might be adjusted, but you’ll be kept in the loop at every stage.
Step 1. 0 Weeks
Starting your renewable energy journey is quick and easy. Just enter your address and details, and we'll handle the rest.
Based on your information, we'll provide an initial estimate of your property's needs. We'll then follow up with a phone call to get everything moving smoothly.
Step 2. 1 Week
One of our knowledgeable surveyors will visit your property to discuss your system requirements. They will conduct a comprehensive survey to determine the best options tailored to your needs.
During the visit, you can discuss various heating options, from radiators to underfloor heating. We'll also review the locations for the hot water cylinder, heat pump, and controls, explaining each aspect in detail.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Our team is here to ensure a smooth and informed journey.
Step 3. 2 Weeks
After the surveyor visits your property, the gathered information is sent to our design team. They will use this data to create a detailed floor plan of your property.
Based on this floor plan, we will design a custom heating system that includes heat loss calculations, pipe runs, and plans for radiators or underfloor heating. All this information will be compiled into a folder with detailed imagery for your review.
Step 4. 3 Weeks
After finalising the design to your satisfaction, we proceed to prepare your quote. Once completed, we'll promptly send it to you. If you have any queries about pricing or design specifics, our approachable team members are on hand to assist you.
Upon your approval of the design and installation process, a deposit is necessary to initiate the project. Rest assured, we'll be with you every step of the way, providing guidance throughout the entire journey.
Step 5. 4 Weeks
Our team of skilled installers will arrive on-site to seamlessly install your new system. To protect all flooring and surfaces, we ensure thorough measures are in place firstly.
Following this, we proceed to remove your old heating system and expertly install the new one. After installation, we conduct a thorough flush-out process to prepare it for commissioning.
Step 6. 5 Weeks
Following installation, our engineer will commission the system and provide a detailed walkthrough of the controls, ensuring you're familiar with its operation.
You'll receive all necessary paperwork, including guarantees and information about your new energy-efficient system. With the installation completed, you're now ready to experience the benefits of your new heating system.
