How much can I claim?

Up to 100% of purchase and installation costs, to a maximum of £5,000.

Who’s eligible?

You can apply if:

You live in a house or a small business building in England or Wales. (Large buildings do not qualify.)

Your current heating system must use either fossil fuels (like oil or gas) or electricity.

Your property has a valid energy performance certificate (EPC)

You haven’t already replaced your boiler with a low-carbon system like a heat pump.

The grant cannot be combined with other government funding specifically for heat pumps or biomass boilers. However, you can still apply if you’ve received funding for other energy-saving measures in your home, like loft insulation or new windows.

This scheme is not available for newly built homes or social housing, but it does apply to self-built properties.

First-time central heating

Who’s eligible?

People who don’t have central heating already installed on their property, whose property has an EPC rating of E, F, or G, are either the homeowners or renting privately and are in receipt of the benefits below:

Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA),
Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA),
Income Support (IS),
Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC),
Working Tax Credit (WTC),
Child Tax Credit (CTC),
Universal Credit (UC),
Housing Benefit,
Pension Credit Savings Credit (PCSC),
Child Benefit

Who’s eligible?

If your property has an EPC rating of D or lower, you’re in receipt of certain benefits, and are either the homeowner, renting privately, or living in social housing, and the combined household earnings are less than £31,000 per year.
