In 2024, we embarked on our most ambitious renewable energy project to date with the Cheshire Solar Together Scheme. This initiative, encompassing 367 installations across Cheshire East including the prestigious Golden Triangle area, underscored our prowess in sustainable energy solutions.

Background

This project marked our fourth successful engagement with the Solar Together initiative and represented our largest undertaking to date in terms of solar panel installations. Having proven our capabilities in three previous schemes, we were elevated to a higher operational bracket. This new level of responsibility saw us managing an impressive 367 installations over a six-month period. For this scheme, we were awarded the contract for Cheshire East, including the prestigious Golden Triangle area.

Challenges

The project presented several significant challenges, particularly due to the simultaneous execution of another large-scale scheme in Leicestershire. At the peak of operations, we were managing over 950 Solar Together customers across multiple regions. Key challenges included:

  • Concurrent Projects: Balancing the demands of the ongoing Leicestershire scheme while initiating the Cheshire East project required meticulous planning and resource allocation.
  • Warehouse Expansion: To accommodate the increased volume of materials, we extended our warehouse facilities and implemented a new stock management system. This upgrade was crucial for handling the logistics of large deliveries efficiently.
  • Logistics and Storage: Managing the logistics for storing and handling deliveries of up to 1800 solar panels at a time was a complex task. Integrating the new stock system added an additional layer of complexity to the process.

Result

Despite the challenges, the project was a resounding success. We achieved the following outcomes:

  • High Volume Installations: We successfully installed Solar PV systems across 367 properties within the six-month timeframe. The installations included a mix of Solar PV only, Solar PV with Battery Storage, and Battery Retrofit packages.
  • Quality Components: The installations featured Longi 430w All Black panels and Growatt Battery Storage packages, ensuring high efficiency and reliability for the customers.
  • Efficient Operations: The expansion of our warehouse facilities and the implementation of a new stock system played a crucial role in managing the increased workload. These improvements allowed us to handle large deliveries and logistics more effectively.
  • Customer Satisfaction: By effectively managing over 950 Solar Together customers and delivering high-quality installations, we ensured a high level of customer satisfaction and maintained our reputation for excellence in the renewable energy sector.
  • Environmental Impact: The successful implementation of this project contributed significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions and promoted the adoption of renewable energy solutions in Cheshire East.
