Background

Thomas wanted to make the most of his home’s available roof space by installing a high-yield solar PV system. After discussing options with our design team, he chose to go beyond a standard setup by including extra panels and upgrading the inverter to support future battery storage.

Addressing the challenges

The project required careful planning and precise installation to safely make the most of the available space.

  • Scaffolding and site preparation were needed to give the installation team safe, efficient access to the roof. This minimised disruption and maintained safety standards throughout the build.
  • Limited roof space meant the panel configuration had to be accurately planned to maximise exposure to sunlight. Each panel was positioned to balance aesthetics with long-term efficiency.
  • Bird nesting presented a potential risk to the panels and wiring, which could have affected long-term performance. To prevent this, we installed bird netting around the array for full protection without affecting system airflow or visual appeal.

Results

The Avon Road project ran smoothly from start to finish. The upgraded inverter and extra panels have already improved the system’s output, and Thomas now has a setup that’s ready for battery storage when he decides to expand. The new system will not only save him money, but it will also reduce carbon emissions for decades to come:

  • Annual CO₂ reduction: 784 kg
  • Equivalent car kilometres avoided: 23,447 km
  • Tree planting equivalent: 151 trees
  • Long-haul flights avoided: 17
